Counselling
At times we can feel overwhelmed by what is happening in our lives, and within our relationships, a situation can become overtime intolerable, or we may want to make some changes. Choosing to start counselling is a recognition that someone may be able to help, instead of struggling to deal with the issues alone. There may have been a recent crisis, however sometimes it can be difficult to identify the reasons why we feel unhappy, and at these times talking to a counsellor in confidence can be beneficial and enlightening. Together we can work towards identifying patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviour which may be contributing to your current difficulties.
Collaboration
Sometimes we need help to access our resources and capacities in order to deal with our problems. I work collaboratively, and together we will explore your experiences in order to bring deeper understanding to your way of relating and responding. This offers an opportunity to recognise and manage your feelings and behaviours.
Trust
For counselling to be effective there needs to be an honest and trusting relationship, where uncomfortable or difficult matters can be explored in a safe environment. Feeling comfortable enough to put painful or confusing thoughts and feelings into words to identify your experience can bring understanding and relief. So whether you are experiencing relationship struggles, anxiety, a loss in your life, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, stress, feeling low or alone, or coping with illness of others or yourself, counselling can provide you a space where you feel understood and change may be facilitated.
